Sport and Fitness
Paralowie has a long history of successful involvement in sport, health an physical education. The school values the role of health, sport and physical education as part of a students’ development, growth and wellbeing and strives to create a fun, enjoyable and safe environment for students to develop their knowledge and skills and flourish as healthy citizens in the 21st Century.
The Heath and Physical Education and Sport programs encourage students to:
- Develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required to strengthen their sense of self whilst maintaining respectful relationships.
- Acquire and apply movement skills and concepts during participation in a range of physical activities, building a strong foundation for successful participation in life long physical activity.
Specialist Interest Sport (Years 8-11)
Students with high athletic potential and leadership skills are provided with an opportunity to excel in a range of sporting contexts. The purpose of the program is to provide a pathway for years 8-12 designed to nurture a culture of sporting and academic excellence. Students develop an understanding of the discipline, team work, leadership, athletic and academic rigor required to be successful in elite sports, school life and in life in general.
Our Volleyball academy has been running since 2004, and aims to prepare students to participate in various competitions and activities focusing on areas such as skill development, teamwork, personal organization, and general life skills.
Inter School Sports
Sporting opportunities include athletics (Zone and SSASSSA), tennis, netball, football, 8 ball, soccer, hockey, rugby, basketball, touch, cross country, volleyball, golf, archery, lawn bowls, squash, swimming, fitness, weightlifting, badminton, softball, cricket, rock climbing, aquatics, table tennis.
Students are involved in weekly sport in the Northern Zone, including netball, football, cricket, basketball and futsal.
Paralowie has an extensive weights room available to students in years 7-12. Under specialised instruction, students learn about fitness and develop skills which enable them to be healthy and active into adulthood.
