Aboriginal Education – Tirkanthi

Tirkanthi (a Kaurna word for ‘a learning place’) is a centre dedicated to Aboriginal students, parents/carers and visiting community members to support students’ learning.
Students R-12 are offered individual tutoring and mentoring to assist in their learning.

Students are encouraged to seek help with learning, engagement and wellbeing.

Tirkanthi is a welcoming place for parents to visit and seek support and assistance relating to family wellbeing and education.  We have established a drop in centre every Monday morning from 8:30 – 11:00am.  All are welcome.

Tirkanthi promotes cultural awareness, and actively celebrates special cultural events – Harmony day and Multicultural Week are highlights for Paralowie R-12.

Tirkanthi team members are located in the centre, in the Resource Centre

  • Tom Putnam Aboriginal Education Coordinator
  • Margy Baluch, Aboriginal Education Community & Transition Officer
  • Donald Tanner and Steven Newchurch, Aboriginal Community Education Officers
