Year 7 to 8 Transition Program

The move from primary to secondary school can be quite daunting for some students, and we believe that students feel safer and develop a much stronger sense of belonging if they are familiar with the school, the students and with some of their teachers before they arrive in Year 7.

Paralowie R-12 School believes strongly in developing links with our local primary schools and community.  We have a number of transition visits throughout the year, where Year 6 students from our local primary schools can experience lessons and activities at Paralowie R-12.

Our Open Night is held in Term 1, and students and their families are invited to visit to hear about our site priorities and learning programs, speak with some of our teaching staff and tour our school facilities.

In Term 2, we will build upon our communication with local primary schools to learn about our prospective students, their interests and their needs, to support a smooth transition into our Middle School.

In Term 3, our Student Leaders will visit local schools to share their experiences of being a new Year 7/8 student in a high school setting.

In Term 4, we invite Year 6 students to attend an Orientation Day, where they will meet other new students in a classroom setting.

Students enjoy our transition program which helps them to feel comfortable and familiar with the welcoming and friendly atmosphere of our school. Further information will be distributed to local schools closer to the different transition events.
